Has it really been longer than a year since we first posted? So many things have happened since we first posted that we were in search of a boat. Not only have we found our boat we sold our home with most of our possessions and have started buying items and properly preparing for our adventure. Most importantly we've shared with family and friends our plans and as one would imagine the news hasn't always been well received. For the most part our family and friends stand behind us and are eager to hear about our adventures.
Planning for such a big adventure takes quite a bit of time and planning. We have the never ending lists of items to complete, even our lists have lists. The motto has consistently been "one day at a time".
Todays agenda included, solidifying our boat slip. Our boat is currently in Alameda, CA., our maiden voyage down the coast of California to San Diego will be the second week in June. In addition to familiarizing ourselves with our new slip at the Harbor Island West marina, we also were eager to attend their annual swap meet and buy a few much needed items for the boat. As we were making our way through the swap meet I got a sinking feeling in my stomach looking over everything for sale. All I kept imagining was money flying out of my wallet. Then again I also know that BOAT really means, Break Out Another Thousand. Not capable of convincing poker face Phil asked what was wrong, I mentioned that as I looked around all I saw was spending money. To which he responded that when he looked around all he saw was saving money. Glass half empty versus half full I guess.
Today's swap meet score: Hand pump with multiple nozzles for our kayaks and dinghy. Stainless Steel Magma BBQ with cover and rail clamp. Scuba tank with octopus, regulators and gages. The duffle bag full of medical supplies was thrown in with the BBQ. Care to guess what all of this cost, or should I pose the question, care to guess the amount of money we saved?
